Road map to 100% girl children enrollment

The District Administration is committed to make the district child labor free, by admitting 100% children in schools. The district administration launched the programme on 14^th November,2000. It has conducted the Birthday celebrations of Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru, the first Prime Minister of India, as Children day. It was really a grand festival for the district children. The children, who attended the festival, enjoyed every moment of the celebrations. It was the milestone in making Medak, a child labor free district.  Later it has conducted many programmes for making the goal possible.

This year the district administration is emphasizing on enrolling 100% girl children in schools.  Since the stastistics show that the Out of  School girl children number is more than that of boys, it feels that enrolling girl children paves way to 100% children in schools. Thus the district administration has given  action plan, specifying the  roles and responsibilities of different level officials.

PRESENT STATUS OF OUT OF SCHOOL GIRL CHILDREN:

Ø  Zaheerabad(120),Medak(108),Sangareddy(91),Kalher(84)&Siddpet (80)are identified as top 5 highest OSC girls mandals in the district.

Ø  Strength sanctioned for enrollment in KGBVs district wide is 8600

Ø  Enrollment of girls from 6^th to 10^th class is 5200

Ø  Target to be achieved is 3400

Ø  OSC girl children identified in the age group of 11 to 14 yrs are 1130

Ø  Kondapak & Chinnakodur are identified as zero OSC girl mandals

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Ø  School complex HMs,MRPs, MEOs

•      Identifying OSC girls

•      Data capturing &  updating in medakdeo website (Sampoorna Vidya Darshini) as per the format

•      Door to door campaigning and giving wide publicity of KGBV structure and its benefits

•      MEOs& MRPs shall see that all data of schools- children particulars, teachers particulars, performance (Grading for Primary& Marks for 6^th to 10^th classes) upto 4^th Unit Test is done through the website www.medakdeo.com. This is important to get transition  figure.

Ø  NGOs (Including Aid-et- Action), SMCs, SHG, APMSS, Zilla Samakhya , Unicef coordinator

•      NGOs shall admit children from RSTCs to nearby KGBVs

•      APMSS provides skill development activities in summer camps

•      All these  agencies will mobilize  girl children

Ø  HODs of welfare departments

•      Must enroll OSC girls in KGBs only. After exhaust of seats in KGBVs only OSC girls can be admitted in their hostels.

•      Clear instructions from district level to be issued to field staff

ROLE OF SPECIAL OFFICERS OF KGBVs

Ø  According to the vacancies available and OSC girl children in the mandal, they shall prepare action plan to enroll girl children

Ø  To Prepare strategies to fill the gaps in KGBVs

Ø  Planning skill development activities and implementation in 5 summer camps

Ø  To Conduct melas, Sports & Cultural meets to attract Out of School girl  child in 5 summer camps

Ø  Cultural programs to be organized with the theme ‘addressing the problems of girl child’
